If you’re into post production work, if you have to work with lots and lots of photos, then you are going to love Adobe Photoshop Lightroom – or Lightroom for short. You see, you can use this application to perform three tasks: edit photos, manage your ever increasing collection of photos, and publish the photos you want. As Adobe put it, “Lightroom makes digital photography easier, faster, and more amazing.”

Lightroom is available for Microsoft’s Windows operating system.
Lightroom is also available for Apple’s Mac OS X and for Apple’s iPad.

By selecting what elements you want to see, you can easily customize the dark-themed Lightroom interface. The following modules are presented in the upper right hand corner of the application’s interface:
Library – view all the photos and videos you imported into the catalog.
Develop – enhance photos (apply a preset effect, adjust the colors, and so on).
Map – see or mark where photos were taken.
Book – design books, add the photos you want, publish the books as PDF documents.
Slideshow – turn your photos into slideshow presentations.
Print – print out photos, create JPEGs that you can share with a printing service.
Web – create HTML of Flash web galleries and upload them to your website.

Help documentation for all these modules is available online. It must be mentioned here that Adobe provides online access to a very nice library of Lightroom tutorials, projects, and articles.

Lightroom provides access to a nondestructive editing environment that you can use to: manage a collection of photos; view the photos on your collection; edit the photos in the collection (rotate, apply a preset, adjust the colors, and more); export and email photos; see where the photos were taken; turn photos into a slideshow or web gallery; create a book; and more.

Lightroom is free to use for a trial period of 30 days.

Organize, edit, publish, and share your photos – you can efficiently do all these things by using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

Pros

Lightroom is available for Windows and Mac OS X; Lightroom Mobile is available for the iPad. Lightroom’s interface is customizable, good looking, and quite easy to use. You have easy access to several modules: Library, Map, Book, and more. Lots of help documentation is available. Lightroom provides access to a nondestructive editing environment that you can use to view, manage, edit, publish, and share photos.

Cons

Trial limitations: 30-day trial, nag screen.
